What Squarespace Template Is Being Used

Squarespace is great for getting a website up and running in a short amount of time. It's easy to use and the possibilities are endless.

Whether you're a web designerout looking for design inspirations, or you're just considering the platform, or maybe you've finally decided to give your current Squarespace website a facelift (it's about damn time and you know it!): you got to check out this awesome tool I just launched!

You've been there before: you come across a website that you really like. And you wonder what Squarespace template it may be using or whether it's built on Squarespace at all. Squarespace doesn't exactly make it easy for you to figure this out. You might occasionally see "Powered by Squarespace" in the footer, but this credit line is removed from most websites. And if you do a little bit Googling, you might find solutions like this one.

The problem with these options is that they require you to view the source code of a website, find the template ID if it exists, and check it against a reference table. That's a lot of extra steps! (Not to mention the fact that they need some serious updating.)

Now, there's a much simpler solution: meet Findr, the easiest way on the planet to find out which Squarespace template a website is using (and, in the foreseeable future, your Squarespace soul mate).

Here's what makes Findr your new favorite tool:

  1. It's beautifully minimalistic, thanks to a customized version of the Skeleton CSS boilerplate.
  2. It's super simple to use: all you need to do is copy and paste a website URL and there's no more fumbling around!
  3. It's powerful: for any website, it will tell you whether it's built on Squarespace or some other platform, and, if it's a Squarespace website, what template is used. If you want to dive deeper, links to the demo site and official Squarespace user guide are also included.
  4. And it's FREE!

Findr is a side project of mine. I've been learning more about back-end programming, Java in particular, and wanted to get my hands dirty and build a simple tool that people would actually use. This Squarespace template finder is what I came up with. The hardest part was not building the application, but getting it deployed and making it available to the public. After days of experimentation, I'm so thrilled that it's finally available for everyone to use!

Check it out!

As of right now, there are currently over forty Squarespace templates in the database. These will be updated with more detailed information, And more templates will be added soon! If you have any suggestions, feel free to drop me a line.

Again, this application is available for free. But donations of any amount are more than appreciated. Be part of this project and help keep it up and running! Proceeds will go to maintaining, updating, and improving this little tool. Thanks for your support!

UPDATE: Another 40 templates have been added to the database!
